Fly Fishing, Jordanelle Lake & Snowshoeing
- Fly Fishing
Fly fishing the Provo and Weber River is an exhilarating experience. I am not a huge fisherman, but have gone a few times with my nephews and loved it! Beautiful views, crisp, clean air, and a few fish is a recipe for a fantastic day on the river. There are many guided tours of both the Provo and Weber Rivers. Just Google Guide Service on Provo River and you will have many choices. I don’t have a tour recommendation as we always went ourselves.
- Jordanelle Reservoir
We are reminded of the beautiful Jordanelle Reservoir when we visit Park City, as we could see daily from the view at the house. During the warmer months, there are tons of fun activities that you can take advantage of on Jordanelle Lake. Kayaking is something that we love to do when visiting Jordanelle Lake. It’s great exercise,
Snowshoeing while in Park City Utah was a great experience. The 360-degree mountain and lake views are stunning. While staying in Park City, this was my daily exercise and wow was it fun!! Some of the common types of wildlife you will see are deer, elk, rabbits, and if you’re lucky or an unlucky depending on how you look at it, you might see a mountain lion. Skiing is the main attraction during the winter in Park City, but if you get the chance don’t forget to find a pair of snowshoes and hike the beautiful mountain ranges of Park City Utah. We used two different types of snowshoes, and they were both excellent. If you’re interested in a great pair of snowshoes, CLICK HERE.
SUMMER IN PARK CITY
SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
Coming from California, we both love the warmer weather and Park City Utah does not disappoint during the summertime. People don’t realize that Park City Utah has a ton of activities in the summer. One of the things we love attending is the Park City Mountains Live Music summer concert series. The concert series takes place on Friday, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout the summer and it starts in May. It is located at the Park City Mountain Village. Click here to see the calendar of events.
Another fun music event is the Deer Valley Concert Series which runs throughout August and September. It is located at the Deer Valley Resort’s Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. To learn more about this concert series click here.
Main Street shopping is a must when you visit Deer Valley. They have numerous boutique shops, such as Lululemon, Gorsuch, many galleries and gift shops. Sprinkled in between the shops are cute restaurants and eateries along the way. I borrowed a pair of my sisters darling Sorel boots, and they were so warm and comfortable for walking around town in the snow. Here’s a link if you want to check them out. Click here. I’m not sure if they still have her style or not. You may want to check the Sorel website too.
- KIMBALL JUNCTION
Another great place to visit is Kimball Junction, it’s filled with shops and restaurants like Maxwell’s and an outlet mall. There’s a fun bar called Bout Time which is a sports bar frequented by many locals.
Stop by The Szechuan Chinese Kitchen, if you are looking for great Chinese food. If you’re looking for a sandwich shop Wasatch Bagel after skiing should fit the bill. If you’re looking for pizza, Devanza’s Pizza is the place to go for great pizza!
- No Name Saloon
We spent a lot of time on Main Street. We went to a Pub Grub restaurant called the No Name Saloon which is a locals hotspot in the area. They are best known for their Buffalo burgers, which are amazing. There is an outside patio with TVs and heaters that are year around. Be aware in the winter at night it’s packed. On a side note make sure to go upstairs and look at the United States map made up of all the 50 states license plates.
- The Spur Bar & Grill
Another spot we tried is called The Spur Bar & Grill. It’s a laid-back Western Saloon which serves pizza, wings, and burgers. They have live music nightly. You do have to be 21 and over to get in.
- The Seafood Buffet
If you are looking for an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet located in Deer Valley, try The Seafood Buffet. They have a wide variety of fresh seafood, poke, crab legs, oysters and sushi, to name a few. Plan on spending a few hours at this one and come starving!! It’s fabulous!! Quick Tip: They allow you to bring your own bottle of wine for a small corkage fee.
- Fireside Dining
Fireside Dining is a unique experience, located in Deer Valley, and the food is excellent! They have a fixed price with four courses which are cooked over five stone fireplaces.
- Riverhorse on Main
The Riverhorse on Main is in the top 200 restaurants according to Forbes. Park City awarded Riverhorse on Main “Best Fine Dining and Best Restaurant.” If you are looking for fine dining, wonderful ambiance and fantastic service you won’t be disappointed.
- Prime Steakhouse and Piano Bar
The Prime Steakhouse is a must for fine dining; their food is terrific. This is a steak and seafood restaurant with a signature chocolate cake dessert. It’s a little pricier during the winter ski season. Their mud season begins in May and goes through summer, during this time they have a lot of two for one specials. A local secret is to pick up a copy of the Park Record newspaper for all the deals going on during your visit.
One fantastic benefit when visiting the downtown Park City area is the public transit system is free. The shuttle bus runs all through the Main Street area, and you can download an app which will show you by GPS where the bus is so you can time it correctly. Here’s a link to download the app. Click here. It goes all over Park City; it’s year-round and free. During the winter it runs from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., and during the summer it runs from 6 a.m. to 10 pm.
- The Montage
One of the things we enjoy doing is taking the bus up the mountain to the Montage to see the gorgeous views and have a drink while sitting around the fire pits. The Montage has several restaurants bars and even bowling. Take the bus app to check out their fantastic view and take some pictures.
As I said earlier, we stayed with my sister so as far as accommodations we didn’t need any. New hotels are going up all over Park City. My sister said many people use Airbnb or stay in the resorts. If you choose to use an Airbnb I’ve provided a link where you will receive $40 credit. Click here. We have found that booking.com is a great site to use when staying at hotels we’ve included a link for your convenience. Whether you stay in one of the Resort’s or an Airbnb I don’t think you’ll regret your visit to Park City as there is so much to do and it is gorgeous whether it’s summer or winter. The area of New Park has many hotel and condominium accommodations also.
