11 Top Restaurants On The Samana Peninsula

Las Terrenas Restaurants

Boulangerie Francaise

We tried a French cafe/bakery called, Boulangerie Francaise. It was amazing; they had fresh croissants, freshly baked bread, pastries, sandwiches and a yummy ham croissant with cheese. They have desserts, and coffee’s of many different types. Joel and I had two coffees, we split a pastry filled with fresh papaya, and a ham croissant with cheese for $8. I highly recommend trying this place; I bought a couple of croissants to bring home along with a baguette for later. I wish I had a bigger appetite I would have loved to have tried more.

The Beach House

We tried The Beach House in Coson Beach for a late lunch, and it was amazing!! It’s kind of a hidden spot on a secluded area of Coson Beach. We split the tuna tartare which was terrific, and a lobster with rice dish which was excellent as well. The place looks like a house right on the beach. After you finish eating make sure you walk out to the beach, its so private and there are lounge chairs you can sit on while watching the ocean waves. There is a fabulous palm tree you can sit on for pictures. It feels like you have the entire beach to yourself. The food was amazing, and the prices were reasonable. We will go back the next time we visit Coson Beach.

Luis Restaurant

Luis Restaurant is a great place to go for lunch, as it’s right on the beach facing the ocean. There are lounge chairs, plastic tables, and chairs to sit. It is very casual and all outdoor, you can go in your swimsuit or they will even serve you on a lounge chair by the ocean. You get to pick your fish, and they will barbeque it to order.  It comes with a salad, fries, beans, and rice. In our opinion,  the lobster is a bit expensive for two people, the red snapper and Mahi was approximately $25 for two people. The lobster meal for two ran about $65.  FYI…. Joel loved the fries!! If you want the fries, they were $3 for a considerable portion.

A Few Las Terrenas Dinner Options

Soho Beach Bar & Grill

Soho Beach Bar is a great place to go for Happy Hour!! The pina coladas are amazing. Make sure you ask for their free Dominican nuts to go along with your drinks. They have happy hour prices on most of their menu items. We split the chicken fajitas, which were yummy. It’s right on the beach, and it’s situated so you can see a beautiful sunset. Soho Beach Bar is in a great location to bar hop because there are many bars all along this section of the beach.

Le Tre Caravelle

Le Tre Caravelle is an Italian restaurant near Playa Punta Popi facing the ocean, with indoor and patio seating. They have many Italian dishes, Caribbean, seafood, vegan, and vegetarian dishes. We tried the langostina ravioli and the spinach ricotta ravioli, both were tasty.  They have reasonably priced wine by the bottle.  The tiramisu is supposed to be fantastic, but we were too full to try it.

Baraonda Restaurant and Lounge

Baraonda Restaurant & Lounge is located across from the ocean, in the hotel Alisei Beachfront Hotel Restaurant & Spa. They serve Mediterranean and Dominican food in a relaxed atmosphere. They have a continental breakfast buffet in the morning and a Sunday brunch on Sundays. We toured this hotel with the manager and included it as one of our honeymoon destination resorts. Los Kiki’s Bar & Restaurant

Kiki’s is a fun outdoor patio bar where you can have a drink while people watching and relaxing. It is just down and across the street from the fresh fish market, and next to the liquor store where everyone seems to hang out. Kiki’s is a great place to stop for a drink while walking around the Playa Las Ballena’s area. If you want to read more about the Best Beaches in Las Terrenas click here.

Lafel-Hummus & Falafel Bar

We found this place to be a bit pricey, but since our daughter was visiting and she’s a vegan we tried it out. We tried the hummus zahatar and the Shawarma Atomico; both were very good. Lafel-Hummus & Falafel Bar is located in the heart of Las Ballena’s Beach restaurant area, so we stopped for a bite and then headed to Kiki’s for a drink.

Las Galeras Restaurants

C L’Aventura de John

This place has the best pizza in town!!! We sat at the bar, talked to the friendly bartender Fausto and had a fabulous time. It turned out to be a great night because Fausto has friends that own one of the boats that go to the fabulous beaches nearby. He set up a boat excursion for the next morning to Playa Fronton Beach, where we “chased whales.” It was one of the highlights of our trip. If you want to read more about our whale chasing day at Playa Fronton Beach, click here. We have contact information in the Playa Fronton blog post for Fausto in case you are planning to visit Las Galeras.

Restaurant La Bodeguita

Restaurant La Bodeguita has a French flair with an excellent tapas menu with Spanish food that includes the freshest produce. They have fantastic food options, which include fish selections, beef, and vegetarian plates. Be sure to ask about their Happy Hour specials. La Bodeguita is located in the downtown area of Las Galeras. You should stop by for a drink and a tapa or two, if not dinner, you won’t be disappointed.

El Limon

Restaurante Santi

Restaurante Santi is a casual, relaxed place with good food for reasonable prices. They have many Creole food choices, and they are close to the El Limon waterfall. If you would like to learn more about the El Limon Waterfall, click here.
