Best Resort In Montezuma Costa Rica
What To Do In Montezuma?
Hotel Nya is steps away from the ocean, with the most beautiful sunrises in Costa Rica. The hotel is on the same street as the main downtown area, yet far enough away that you feel like you are in the middle of a jungle while staying a Nya. There are many restaurants, bars, shops, and tour companies close by to visit or schedule tours.
We went on the snorkeling tour to Isla Tortuga and it was a lot of fun. There are many tour companies in Montezuma; we recommend Zuma Tours for your excursion needs. They were fantastic, and the guides speak English. Zuma Tours is located next to the grocery store on the main street in town. It’s walking distance from Nya. Click here for our day at Isla Tortuga.
The Montezuma waterfall is a great day trip while staying in Montezuma. When leaving Nya, walk to the right through the town onto the beach, cross the beach until you reach the dirt road (road to Cabuya) going out of town. After a 5 to 10 minute walk up the dirt road, pass the bridge, and you will see a waterfall sign on the right-hand side of the road. Make sure you wear hiking shoes because you will be hiking over rocks and tree roots. The hike to the waterfall is approximately 20 minutes after you leave the road. You will come to a swimming hole after 5 minutes into the hike, keep following the stream until you reach the waterfall. Check out our Montezuma waterfall video to see exactly how to get there and what to expect. A few of the guys were jumping from the top of the falls.
Organic Farmers Market, every Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in downtown Montezuma.
Montezuma has gorgeous sunrises so try to get up early one morning and walk down to the beach to enjoy the beautiful sunrise.
El Chorro horseback riding to a waterfall that falls into the ocean, if you want you can hike to the waterfall, it’s a 3-hour hike. If you decide to take the horseback riding tour, you can go through Zuma Tours.

Soda El Artesano & Soda Palmeras serve typical Costa Rican food is good for breakfast and lunch, both are located within walking distance.
Cocolores Restaurant, an upscale restaurant in Montezuma is excellent for couples with its romantic ambiance and vast menu choices. The menu consists of an array of Thai, Mexican, Greek and Italian dishes.
We went to Chelo Pizzeria for pizza, and it was thin crust, and it did not disappoint. They also serve homemade pasta dishes, salads and appetizers. They only take cash.
Another pizza place to try in Pizzeria Tierra y Fuego, which serves home-style Italian food; however, it is not within walking distance of Nya.
