Best Happy Hour & Nightlife Tour in Athens

2 Traveling Lovers

While in Athens, we decided to try an excursion that was a little different than our typical excursions. No, it wasn’t a museum or famous sculptures tour.  It’s the Best Happy Hour & Nightlife Tour in Athens and the official name is Posh Happy hour and Twilight Athens Tour, with Urban Adventures which brought us to unique buildings, bars, rooftops bars, and restaurants all around the city of Athens. We saw places we wouldn’t have found on our own, tried authentic drinks and food, and we met some great people.

Because we travel for a living and have subscribers that look up to our content, we put a lot of research into which tours to recommend to our subscribers. Our goal is to do the legwork to find the best excursions to recommend for their ultimate vacation.

Restaurants, Bars, and History! This Tour Has It All.

The Urban Adventures Total Athens Tour Combo 2: Posh Happy Hour and Twilight Athens Tour was so much fun, and we learned a lot! The tour is a combination of two of their tours, the Posh Happy Hour and the Twilight Athens Tour which is a moonlight walking tour of Athens. If you decide to combine the tours, the time length is 6 hours total.

We chose this Urban Adventures tour because we both love food, drinks, and meeting new people. Besides, we liked the idea of learning some history while having fun trying some of the local beverages and food. It’s a perfect fit and a good contrast from museums, sculptures, and all the history over the past three weeks in Greece.

The tour includes three bar stops, one cocktail, and two alcoholic drinks, a snack, bottled water, a glass at a local spirit at each stop, and finger food. I would say it’s a lot more than “figure food,” we were full by the end of the night as there was plenty to eat. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes, and they ask that you dress in smart casual clothing, which means no flip-flops or beachwear because you will be walking through some of the upscale neighborhoods in Athens. The maximum number of people for this tour is 12 people. There were two people in the walking tour portion of our tour, and five more joined us for the happy part of the tour.

“Age & glasses of wine should never be counted.”

The tour started with our guide Angelo conducting the Twilight Athens Tour portion of the night. First off, what a fantastic guide! So friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. One of those personalities that you love being around.

We started our night with a glass of wine on a rooftop bar that we would have never found without a guide. The video gives a little info on it. We learned how to toast in Greek and had a fun time talking and meeting Matt and Erin the other couple in our tour.

Angelo took us through Athens, explaining various monuments and buildings while teaching us a little about Athens history. We stopped throughout the 2 hours for drinks and bit to eat at multiple locations before continuing on the walking tour.

Posh Happy Hour

After the city walking tour portion of our excursion concluded we met with Alex our tour guide for the Posh Happy Hour portion of the excursion. Again another fabulous Urban Adventures guide, Alex was fun, informative, and knowledgable. We were able to sample Greek wine, Oso, raki, and authentic Greek cuisine at various restaurants and local bars.

Make sure you watch the video in this blog post. It shows nightlife in Athens and one of the best walking happy hour tours we’ve found. This happy hour nightlife tour is put on by Urban Adventures, one of the biggest tour companies in Europe. Both guides did a great job keeping us on schedule so we could see as much as possible.

Alex took us to one of the oldest Rock and Roll bars in Athens, a bar named after the man who wrote the Greek national anthem. We finished off the night at Lycabettus Hill restaurant, where we got to admire the gorgeous night view of the Acropolis. What a treat!! We were so excited to see the Acropolis from a rooftop bar; it was an incredible ending to our night.

THANK YOU URBAN ADVENTURES, ANGELOS, AND ALEX FOR A MEMORABLE NIGHT WE’LL NEVER FORGET!

Travel Resources

If you are interested in checking hotel prices we have found booking.com to have the most competitive prices.  Click here to check out hotels.

All of our video footage is taken with GoPro HERO6.  It’s a waterproof digital action camera for travel with a touchscreen.  We use this camera daily, and we love it. If you are interested in checking it out here is the Amazon link:  Click here.

The drone we use is the DJ Spark with Remote Control Combo.  We like this drone because it’s compact, it’s effortless to take on trips, it’s easy to fly, and it shoots 1080p.  All of our drone footage on our blog posts and youtube videos are taken with this drone. We highly recommend it. If you are interested in checking it out here is the Amazon link:  Click here.

Another item we use daily is our Primocean Backpack with an insulated cooler bag.  We use this as Christie’s carry on bag on the plane and as our cooler at our final destination.  We used to use a different backpack and we switched to this one because it’s better made of durable material with quality zippers.  We love this backpack!!  The cooler section is smaller; however, all the compartments and the quality of the backpack make it a much better choice for basically the same cost.  We wish we would have thought of this item a long time ago.
